I'm just over 3 weeks after my nissen. I just wanted to know how some of you we're feeling at this time. Sometimes I feel pretty good and other times I feel lump in throat and what feels like reflux. I just wanted to see if I'm on the right track. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I am 4 1/2 weeks post NF & feel great most of the time. I have to be careful & eat small & slow which I forget to do sometimes & it causes pain. I also can't eat/drink cold things unless I hold it in my mouth to warm it. I ate some ice cream last night without thinking & afterwards was in real pain - had to warm some water & drink it to feel better. Sometimes I have pain that feels like reflux but is relieved when the gas escapes (if you know what I mean). I'm thinking it is just gas pains that are mimicking the reflux pain. I go back to my surgeon on Wednesday so will hopefully get some answers. Hope you are doing well.

Hi Steve.

I'm only one week post surgery but so far, feeling very good. In fact, I feel like I didnt even have surgery. I've really not had any problems worth mentioning. I've posted my daily journal under cat98037 if you would like to read. I wanted others to know that the surgery isn't all that bad. Plus, I went into it sick with my lungs. I am extremely pleased so far and knowing what to expect from this forum has really helped me.

Tomorrow will be NF + four weeks for me and I know that we are all different but I have to say that I feel great and have had no difficulties what-so-ever. For the most part, I have followed my Doctor's instructions and this forum's suggestions to the letter except for food. I am still on soft food diet but in the last three days I have tried limited amounts of bread, pasta and rice but always chewing very well. Yesterday I toasted one piece of bread so that i could have some egg salad. Sunday I had a spoonful of rice in a bowl of gumbo and ate some angel hair pasta with some shrimp. All were token amounts but they caused no complications. I am looking forward to my second followup visit to the Doctor on the 18th.

You are right on track for 3 weeks or so.

I could tell I was full when the hiccups started.

Take care,
