Well, just got my results from my gastric emptying study. My doctor simply said my stomach doesn't empty and that during my EGD that I had a lot of bile present. I don't know how severe it is, but he suggested the gastric bypass surgery for my emptying problems. He also mentioned that this would eliminate my bile reflux problems. So pretty much it has taken over a dozen doctors over 2 years to finally find something wrong with me and explain why I'm still refluxing after my TIF.

I also asked him about some medication I could possibly take for my problem. He said there really wasn't any I could take, which I don't believe is true. I'm thinking about calling other doctors I've been to and seeing if they could prescribe me something similar to reglan and ursodeoxycholic acid for my bile reflux.

I thought carafate (back in the old days) was given for bile reflux? Did this suggestion come from UW dr's?

No a local surgeon I went to. I was going to find someone closer to home to possibly have a nissen done because my doctors at UW-Health were leaning towards the nissen. Unfortunately, my local surgeon doesn't want to operate on me, so he referred me to a surgeon at UW-health to possibly perform the roux en y surgery. The reason for this is because he thinks that I will have a better outcome if I have a UW surgeon do the surgery.

I do have carafate, but it doesn't seem to help me all that much. I guess the only thing I can do is start a liquid or close to liquid diet. It seemed to help after my TIF, it should help now.

IMO, If I was to get any kind of surgery I wouldn't settle for local. Talk to the UW surgeon before you do anything.

alright, sounds good. We'll see what they say. I figure it's going to take a month before I get an appointment. Will be getting a call from their office shortly.
