I'm 5 months post nissen. 6 weeks ago my surgeon gave me the green light to go back to the gym. I took it slow, and after a few setbacks I seemed to be doing quite well. Then about
a week ago I think I overdid the abs and lifting because my gut was really sore, especially near the wrap site. Now, I can't seem to eat or drink anything except water and saltines since the exercise overdo. If I eat anything with sugar or fiber, I end up with severe gas bloat, dumping, and pain.
I'm off PPIs per my docs, but need antacids/antigas chewables just to get through the day. I've eased up on the core exercise, but I'm getting worried that I may have damaged the wrap (or really irritated the heck out of it). The pain now moves around but is pretty much near the stomach/wrap site, although today it's the upper right side that hurts.
Has anyone tweaked out their wrap from core/ab exercise or moderate lifting? My surgeon assured me that I couldn't rip the thing apart unless I lifted really heavy weights (bench 200 lbs), which I can't really do anyway. I did do some dead lifts and upright flys with free weights, but not heavy at all (only about
40-50 lbs). I'll also add that I'm a former woman body builder from my younger years (I'm now 50) and I'm 5'1" tall on a good day. I workout every day after work with a group of similar aged former athletes and our trainer.
Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated!
