another exercise mishap/question, 5 months post nissen

I'm 5 months post nissen. 6 weeks ago my surgeon gave me the green light to go back to the gym. I took it slow, and after a few setbacks I seemed to be doing quite well. Then about a week ago I think I overdid the abs and lifting because my gut was really sore, especially near the wrap site. Now, I can't seem to eat or drink anything except water and saltines since the exercise overdo. If I eat anything with sugar or fiber, I end up with severe gas bloat, dumping, and pain.

I'm off PPIs per my docs, but need antacids/antigas chewables just to get through the day. I've eased up on the core exercise, but I'm getting worried that I may have damaged the wrap (or really irritated the heck out of it). The pain now moves around but is pretty much near the stomach/wrap site, although today it's the upper right side that hurts.

Has anyone tweaked out their wrap from core/ab exercise or moderate lifting? My surgeon assured me that I couldn't rip the thing apart unless I lifted really heavy weights (bench 200 lbs), which I can't really do anyway. I did do some dead lifts and upright flys with free weights, but not heavy at all (only about 40-50 lbs). I'll also add that I'm a former woman body builder from my younger years (I'm now 50) and I'm 5'1" tall on a good day. I workout every day after work with a group of similar aged former athletes and our trainer.

Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

Has anyone out there aggravated their wrap from exercise? I can't eat anything now without gas bloat, pain, or dumping, and I'm miserable. Waiting on doc's response. smhair

Hi One Day,
I did aggravate it by lifting something too heavy.  I felt it hurt, and it bothered me for a few days afterward.  I didn't have the symptoms you're describing, though.  You probably hurt it more than I did.  I'm glad you called your surgeon, as he/she will be the best one to determine what has happened.  Your surgeon turned you loose to exercise at will, so it's likely he/she has dealt with similar situations before.
 
I assume you're backing off on eating. Go back to an earlier eating protocol and baby your wrap and stomach.  Soft foods an even liquids would be easier on your aggravated wrap and stomach.
