Has anyone else noticed that with electronic records, it's difficult to get a true 2nd opinion (in the U.S.)? I ask because I'd gone to a second doctor about my chest pains when I started out my gerd journey a few years ago, and doctor #2 regurgitated word for word what doctor #1 had told me after reading my electronic records from the first doctor. I felt like I wasted my money, I'd even told him I wanted a 2nd opinion and he didn't seem to put much effort into it.

Back in the day I could visit a doctor for a 2nd opinion, not have my records transferred and get a true 2nd opinion. Are these days gone, or is there a way to limit the sharing of this information?

I agree it's BS! I had that happen to me when I went to an ENT, he just read my records and seen my GI noted "hypersenitive" and that was it. I did nothing but bill me and showed me the door.
