I can't get in to see my doc until monday and I am starting to worry what this is.   For the past month my tongue has felt mildy inflammed- like I was going to get a cankor sore or something.    I noticed a mild tenderness in my upper abdomen but nothing I would call painful.   For the past few weeks I've had an acid taste on my tongue that is worse at night and esp. when I wake up in the morning.  I have been popping tums but it brings no relief.  I'm not belching or feeling "heartburny" and my throat does not hurt just this awful taste that does not go away after I brush.    This morning it is making me gaggy and nauseated but no stomach pain.
I also have Crohn's that is in remisssion.   I hope that this is not GERD and could really use your input.  I asked the nurse what I could do to get through the weekend and she said she had no idea (big help).    Does this sound like GERD?
Thank you for reading and responding.

There are definitely different levels of intensity of heartburn. I don't always get the stomach pain or the belching either but I do get the reflux. Maybe you don't notice the reflux because it happens while you are sleeping. This is common and especially if you eat soon before going to bed. I have woken up many times with an inflammed throat because of the nighttime reflux. I have gotten sores right above my tonsils from reflux so I can relate to the "canker" sores. Bad breath also is a common symtpom of GERD. I gargle with mouthwash and it seems to help get the not so easy areas that the acid reflux gets. I hope the doctor has answers for you but it does sound like GERD to me.

Sound's like gerd to me too !  you say you feel worse in the morning,  sound's like nightime reflux,  see the doctor, but don't expect him to diagnose it quickly, you must have test's,  the thing is not to worry,  better you have found this out early,  I think you will have to think about changing your diet ! all the best,  Bedwedge.
