about a month ago I began suffering from severe heartburn. I would get headaches, lower back pain, and sore throat on the left side of my throat. It got so bad that I wa scared to eat anything because everytime I ate something it would cause these awful feelings.

I went to the doctor and he seems to think it is GERD. He prescribed Nexium and told me if the pain continued they would do a endoscopy. I began taking the Nexium and also watched my diet for a week and I began to feel better. I made a huge mistake and thought I could go back to the old way I was eating. Monday I felt awful again! To make matters worse I ate red sauce for dinner two nights and had horrible heartburn. Over the last three days I have gotten back to the point where I am afraid to eat anything. I am now watching what I eat but I continue to get slight acid build up with the left side of my throat hurting. I have also began to feel nauseous.

So here I am scared and not sure what to do and what is wrong. It is miserable to be scared to eat but this is where I am. I am a soon to be father and I want to fix what the issue is before my daughter is born. I don't want my GERD to cause me to come home sick every night.

I also suffer from severe anxiety and I have read that anxiety plays a major role in bringing on GERD.

I know a lot of people will say I need to get an endoscopy and I am fine with that but I want to try to make the Nexium and diet work before I decide to do it. In my head I think if the symptoms start to go away while on Nexium and a diet it must be GERD.

Any help or advice on certain diets or lifestyle changes on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
