I've been suffering with acid reflux for almost a year now. I've tried all of the meds (prilosec, nexium, aciphex, protonix, prevacid) and am currently taking a double dose of prevacid twice a day. Since the meds weren't working, my dr. doubted I was actually having acid reflux. My symptoms are coughing, throat burning, burping, but not really much heartburn.
I had the motility study and 24 hour ph test done last week. I got the results back and am not sure what to make of them. My dr's office said the dr hasn't reviewed the results yet, which is a little frustrating since he has had them for over a week.
My demeester score was 29.4 (done on meds). I know this is high, but I'm not sure what is considered really abnormal. I refluxed 138 times, all while upright.
The manometry showed that my LES is short (2.3 cm), as is the intraabdominal portion (0.0 cm), and I have a small hiatal hernia.
Anyone else have a similar situation and any suggestions on how I follow up from here? I appreciate any help. I am very frustrated and want to feel better!
