I have gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD for short and I just found out about that about a month ago. I have been having trouble swallowing for about a month. It is very uncomfortable feeling like my food is stuck somewhere. They have done lots of test on me and today said the the food is not getting stuck in my throat where I thought it was but it did seem to get hung up in the upper part of the esophagus just below where I thought it was, but the test I had done today was the wrong one to be sure of that, so back to square one, on not knowing exactly where the solid food is getting stuck or why. I had a scope done but all biopsies came back normal, and the gastro doctor said that the scope passed with ease. But my food just does not seem to want to pass down easily for some reason. I'm so frustrated and have lost more the 20 pounds in 4 weeks, which is ok, I guess, because I am over weight any way, but I would rather eat and lose the weight a healthy way, not by starving because it is to uncomfortable to eat.

Welcome to Healing Well.

Sometimes it takes a few trial and errors to find what meds will work. It can take a few weeks sometimes before you get any relief also. Sometimes the meds don't work or stop working. After a few years the meds quit working for me.

Take care,
Bill

Do you just have a feeling of something stuck in the back of your throat or do you feel pressure in your esophagus and chest that something is stuck? Also when this happens does water go down?

Take are,
