This article discusses the role of Gaviscon Advance (available only in the UK and Canada, can be ordered online) in removing pepsin and bile from reflux episodes. You have to register to read the whole article but the abstract is informative as well.

This clinical study (abstract only) of 49 patients found benefit for lpr with gaviscon advance http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18506466

I've ordered gaviscon advance from the UK and Canada and am going to start using it to see if it helps my throat symptoms. Unfortunately it will not arrive (I live in california) until two to four weeks. Has anyone else tried it and found relief?

I have tried it and I did get some relief. The "raft" last about 4 hrs, however if you consume anything (food/drink) the raft is ruined.

I take it every night before bed. I alternate between the american one and the advance because it is expensive to get it since it is not sold in the USA.
