Hi all

I have been told my GERD symptoms are atypical, in that I find most relief reclined on a 45 degree angle. Walking about or standing still seem to be the worst causes of heartburn for me.

I have also noticed that I burp (and break wind) quite a lot, I think I naturally swallow a lot of air when I eat and drink but also constantly swallow due to the heartburn and think is partly to do with it.

But I also think maybe it is this gas that is causing my heartburn. I have heard the stomach contents can 'bubble up' through the LES rather than having a typical full flush of reflux. Maybe that is why my heartburn is worst when I stand?

I have heard of SIBO, I dont have the symptoms as severe as it is usually described, but am thinking maybe even in a mild form it could be causing bubbles and heartburn.

I was thinking of maybe trying an OTC gas relief medicine to see if it helps. Im seeing a dietician soon as well to try and find if there is anything in my diet that is causing me to constantly have reflux and gastritis, maybe at the same time I will try to avoid the foods bad for SIBO sufferers.

Anyone else had symptoms similar to mine?

That's the way I feel also. It's typically when I burp that I notice my symptoms more and I can't recline to far or else I'll feel more burning. As for standing up, I try to avoid standing straight up because I feel burning in my chest and neck more often.

Had the TIF done 2/2012 and still am symptomatic.
