Ok here is the story, will try make it short,

Back in April after eating what I would say was too much everytime I burped food contents came back up, not vomit just food, this was the only time it happened in April. I just put it down to having been too full.

Friday 10th May all I remember was drinking some water and my tummy felt really strange, so uncomfortable and painful like it was twisted. Tried some scrambled eggs later that day and still such uncomfortable pain at night had some bread and found it so uncomfortable to try sleep.

Saturday 11th I was still in agony and after everything I ate there was pain in upper abdo and left shoulder/collar bone stabbing pain when I tried to take breath. Food was coming up on its own accord.

Sunday 12th no better and in real pain so went to Dr (I should add I am not in my home country right now, I am in Poland with my Boyfriend) The Dr sent me to ER and they said most likely it was Gastritis. They started me on IPP Pantoprazolum 20mg 2x Daily. They took bloods and said my glucose was low, so was started on 500ml sailne with anti spasm for the stomach and then 500ml glucose then sent home.

Monday 13th still no better full after everything I ate and still bringing up food, previous to this week had a huge headache that I was taking Ibuprofen 400mg 1x daily to get rid of it, but this headache was worse and lasted into Tuesday 14th, on the eve of Tuesday 14th went back to ER as left side of face numb and eye starting to close. They did head CT and everything fine, got IV drugs for the headache and then more bloods done, everything ok this time. I was sent home with Omeprazole 20mg to take 2x Daily.

The headaches went around Sunday 19th but the bringing up of food contents is happening almost after every meal.

Went back to ER on Tuesday 21st and spoke with a gastrologist, she didn't think this was anything to worry about and told me to go down to 1x Omeprazole a day and take Zirid 50mg 3x daily 30 mins before food. (Ganaton) It is a bit like Metocloprimide I think, not licensed in US or UK.

I had an ultrasound done on the 23rd May and nothing abnormal came back on it, the said just slight curve on the gall bladder and it was little bit longer than it should be but def nothing to worry about.

Was advised to go for a gastroscope so went for one on the 29th May and again nothing abnormal was seen, stomach showed no ulcers and happy with food pipe. He asked if the Ganaton or Omeprazole was helping to which I told him no.

He couldn't understand why I was bringing up undigested food all the time. He said could be neurological with the headaches - but I've had no headaches since the 19th, He has prescribed me Metocloprimide 10mg to take 2x daily but I have not yet started that as wanted to speak with my own Dr due to its side effects of depression (I have suffered terribly with this in the past) (I think the headaches had something to do with caffiene as I stopped drinking coke, coffee and tea on Saturday 11th May after this started happening)

So not really sure what is going on, if I stick to vegetable soup and yogurt with banana I don't bring up much food, but Saturday 1st June I had a terrible night of being sick after everything I ate, I had turkey wrap with salad, and then at night bread and some crisps (just wanted to try and eat things I normally would) I brought up basically 5 pint glasses of regurgitated food and vomit (it was really smelling of bile now which it normally never did_

So yesterday I tried things I wanted to eat again pork, small potato and cucumber yogurt salad which came up almost as soon as it went down. At night we had a BBQ and although not much food came up, I had to run to the bathroom twice with very very loose stool and my abdo was bloated so much I looked 4 months pregnant. My stomach was so hard and sore, and I got the stabbing pains back in my shoulder area this time now at the right.

Could feel food at top of my throat but nothing came up.

Today I've not had anything to eat yet, but going to go back to my vegetable soup and yoghurt and see what happens.

I should add I do still have an appetite, the first few weeks it started happening I didn't but I now feel hungry but uncomfortable when I eat.

Does this sound typical of Gastroparesis??

I have called my GP back in Scotland toady and hoping to discuss what has been happening with her.

Thank you to anyone who reads this and offers advice.

Hi K,
Welcome to Healing Well!  Sorry it took so long for you to get a reply.  It sounds as if you've got a lot of things going on with your upper GI tract.  You seem to have stumped the medical profession.  Have you had a barium swallow with different textured meals?  That might provide some insight. There is also a stomach emptying test, so they can determine how long it takes for food to leave your stomach.
It sounds as if they're pretty confident that food just isn't moving along, and that's what's causing your problems.  It does make sense to take a medication that helps with getting the food moving through.
Hopefully someone who is dealing with a similar problem will be by to share their experiences with you.  Glad you've joined the forum.  You're definitely in the right place.  Keep us informed about what you find out.  Good luck!
Best wishes,

Have you had an endoscopy yet? That might be able to diagnose what is going on with you such as a hiatal hernia, ulcer, inflammation, ect... the burning in your throat sounds like a GERD symptom but you could also really need to modify your diet. Have they tested for celiac? That can cause headaches, joint pain, nausea and bowel issues as well. Try cutting out wheat, barley and rye products and see what happens. Best of luck to you.

Yeah I had an upper endoscopy but did not show any signs of hiatus hernia, ulcers or imflammation.

I havn't been getting any burning in the back of my throat, only food getting stuck there, and the food that comes back up does not seem to be acidic or tasting sour.

It seems a mystery! I think the next stop will be going for the gastric emptying study to find out where my food is going.

thank you

In terms of dealing with slight gastroparesis. I've tried reglan and erthromycin. I thought the erythromycin worked very well for about a week or so, than kinda died off as I built up my tolerance to it. Reglan was good, but if you suffer from depression this will make it a whole lot worse.

Also, I've tried a natural supplement called triphala that sped things up for me too. It's more of a laxative, but it seemed to have an effect on getting my stomach contents out too. Also, in terms of another natural supplement, I've heard a german supplement called iberogast has been known to help out gastroparesis. I've read though that it has an awful taste.

Another thing that I've tried that helped out was a anti-depressant called Remeron. It helped ease the pain in my stomach/nausea. Also, it increased my appetite as well as helped out with my mood. It's worth a shot. I was on a 7.5 mg dose, I've read studies saying that they used 15mg.
