I had GERD for 2 yrs and it presented as stabbing pain near heart. For a few yrs I have had a deep squeezing/stabbing pain about 3 fingers underneath left breast-sometimes on the right. My lipase was eleavated and is slightly but drs swear its not my pancreas because all the scans Ive had are normal

Does anyone have spasms in this location? Also sometimes back stabbing pains?

I'm getting these symptoms as well. But was worse when I was on PPI meds. Since I'm off the PPI meds (2wks or so), I'm feeling a lot better but get them from time to time. However, I am taking Zantac which is histamine-2 blockers, which I think my body can handle.

My GI dr, suggested a Holter monitor for 24hrs to rule out any heart issues. I'm removing this device this afternoon and have a follow up end of summer.

I know exactly how you feel. Ive had that pain for years. Cant tell you how many times of been hooked up to heart monitors. Always checked out fine. Its not your heart. TRUST ME. Elevate the head of your bed. It helps. I eat small meals and dont eat before you go to bed. It scares me whem it happens. Just tell your self this to shall pass!!!!!

I also had these same symptoms but they have always gone by within a few feeks. I was diagnosed with GERD in April 2013 and now I (think) I know they appears do to GERD. Have you noticed that anything else helps than small meals and eleveted bed? Streching etc?

I know how you feel. Always worrying if I was going to sleep or not. My mind was playing games with me, always thinking. Since I've been off Nexium, I feel much better. Nexium isn't for everyone and it might not be suitable for you as well.

I also have been in the ER hooked-up to a heart monitor with the same stabbing pain that you have described. My heart is fine. I've had GERD for over 20 years. I have a hiatal hernia. Hernias can cause the pain that you have described. Also, gas pressure on specific gastro nerves can create excrutiating pain. Your symptoms are just another complication associated with GERD. I've had some success with Gaviscon when experiencing that pain.
