I'm new here to this forum. I am too a GERD sufferer. I am a 30 year old male, slightly overweight, otherwise overall healthy (besides the gerd).
I was dx with gerd in January 2010 after three months of upper burning stomach sensation, some nausea, and heartburn. I had all the tests done, CT scan, ultrasound, HIDA scan, liver tests, food allergy test etc.   My GI doctor told me to avoid the certain foods, lose some weight and prescribed dexilant. I was glad it wasn't something more serious, I had lost 10 pounds and was beginning to have anxiety.
I did improve over these past two and a half years but I still have problems. I mainly have upper stomach issues with pressure pain, and some burning. I rarely have nausea and no vomiting. But this is still a everyday issue. I don't believe I will be get better.
I continue to exercise and watch what I eat, anything with tomato sauce make my symptoms worse with bad heartburn.
Like many of you, I am tired of feeling ill. My doctor recommended the new LINX surgery. I am seriously considering it. I just want my life back. I had to turn down a few traveling opportunities cause the way I feel.
