Shifting. I consume nutritional yeast daily to boost my B vitamin consumption. I absolutely love the taste. I make a salad dressing with it, add it to smoothies type drinks, sprinkle on salads and baked potatoes. I even carry a small shaker of it in my bag. I feel good using it and have consumed it for years. Mine is purchased from a bin in a local health food store-- very inexpensive. (This is not baking yeast for those who might be wondering ).
Shifting have you had your b12 level tested? --this might tell you about the reason for your gerd relief as you might have been real low. PPI rob you of b12. Happy for you !

Dear Pat,

I was thinking that I would carry a little shaker with me from now on. Is vitamin B deficiency a known cause of GERD? The yeast relieves 2 different symptoms within 15 minutes of my eating it. One is the feeling that fluids are coming up my esophagus and the other is a tightening like a screw tightening feeling in my chest. I feel really good when it is a regular part of my diet.
However right now I am eating no spices, less than 20% of my diet is from fats, and I am eating no acids. Hopefully I will be able to reincorporate some of these things into my diet after some time. I've been dieting since March 1.

Hi shifting. I don't think B deficiency causes GERD, but I think the use of medicine proton pump inhibitors does not allow the body to absorb the B12 and maybe using the nutritional yeast help you meet what your body needs to start healing. Hey, just an opinion as no doctors here. (I don't know if u are on any medicine. ). The PPI also drops magnesium levels too. Wish you the best with your eating plan.
