I am a white male 46 years old.  I am obese but active.  For the last 3 weeks I have had spontaneous bouts of excessive sweating/no exertion and night sweats.  I notice starting around 4PM I also have a mild tight chest/shortness of breath with no to mild exertion that comes and goes.  I occasionally have what feels like a giant belch under my breast bone I cant get out but that comes and goes.  about ten years ago I started having issues with stomach acid coming back up and inhaling it while sleeping.  Scary stuff there.  I control that through diet and really don't have any acid symptoms.  The wife says she has breathing issues brought on by gerd.  The sweating doesn't always correlate with shortness of breath.  Today for example, I was sitting in my nice cool office and started sweating profusely, then suddenly stopped.  SOB comes and goes but is more prevalent after 4 pm.  Any ideas?

Welcome to Healing Well.

The best advice I can give right now would be to get an appointment with you PCP and if it continues before you can get in to maybe go to the ER.
That could be gerd symptoms, but better to be safe.

Take care,

I recommend go to ER. I had chest pains and was very confused. Was trying to find out on my own but its just confusing. The ER folks will go quick EKG, Blood Test and Lung xray. They are used to folks with heart burn walking in every day as the symptoms are similar.

You will feel relieved after your trip. Trust me.

I had a EKG and stress test, all normal. However I still deal with daily shortness/heavy chest of breath.
