Hi all,
I am post op day 20 and all of a sudden I am experiencing significant bloating and gas. I have not had too much dairy. Bowels are getting more normal. Has anyone else had this? Is there any relief? It feels awful, not true pain but if you have had gas pain you know what I am talking about.
I felt blessed that I have had a relatively easy time until now. A cautionary tale for those of you post op or about to become post op; not to over do. I think the first week I had such a sense of euphoria that I felt better than I anticipated that I think I over did it. Working too soon. Too much walking and using more of my core than I should have.
I wish I had just sat and read for a few weeks. We live and learn. Hopefully if you are going to undergo this surgery you will know to take it easy.
Kind regards,

This is very normal, especially if you have been over doing it. You are in the peak swelling period and this causes a lot of problems until it goes down. Some people get some relief with beano or gas X.

Remember you had MAJOR surgery. Your insides aren't going to be happy for a lot longer than the incisions take to heal. Now baby yourself and your tummy. Avoid straws and very cold drinks. Very cold drinks can cause spasms and that's no fun.

Take care,

You are right. I forget that this was a big deal and I think I was so elated that first week that I forget that.
Now for the follow up to my question; I am doing a tiny bit better with gas and bloating but I seem to be getting diarrhea 3-4 times per day. I usually have a normal BM in the morning and then by mid-day I start having diarrhea and it goes away by late afternoon.  This has happened three days in a row. I cannot connect it to the food that I am eating, doesn't seem to matter.  It reminds me of what I heard about IBS.
Has anyone else had this?  It really is TMI to talk about with most people so I really appreciate having so many people here that I have gone through this.  I feel good otherwise but this really bums me out. I wish I knew how long this would continue.\
Kind regards,
