I had a nissen fundoplication done when I was an infant and am now 23 I have had increased heartburn and nausea and have contemplated asking my doctor to have the surgery again. Would you suggest that? I am already on a daily prescription for heartburn (dexilant 60mg) and Zofran 4mg 4-8 times a day due to excessive nausea. I know this is a personal option but I would like some feedback from people who know about nissen fundoplication's.
I have had 3 endoscopy's and colonoscopy's and they have found 2 ulcers. The most recent endoscopy I had there were no ulcers present due to the Dexilant helping to repair them (which in my understanding is what it does)

I'm just looking for some guidance and thoughts on the matter. My doctor hasn't brought it up to me but I've been thinking about it for a few months. I know after 10 years its not as effective and I've been lucky that I started having problems when i was 20 instead of 10 but I am so tired of dealing with the acid reflux and nausea that I want to find an end to it. Any insight would help a lot I'm going to see my gastroenterologist next week and would like to be able to talk to him about it.

Welcome to Healing Well and our Wrapped Club!

I have had such good results with my nissen I believe you would benefit from a redo. That said, Be sure to find a surgeon who specializes in redoes. If you have a teaching hospital near that has a specialist in this that would be a good option, but don't disregard 2nd opinions too.
Since you were so young I would do a lot of reading here about the recovery. IT will be much different as an adult, but still well worth it.

Take care,
