I was on nexium for a number of years and my GI doc told me I could try and go off this spring. Rather than just going cold turkey like many folks try and end up with awful acid rebound I saw my naturopath and he put me on a probiotic and digestive enzymes and I stopped the nexium. I had little to no rebound. Before I went off I was having RUQ pain under my ribs and my right flank. It was really bizzare, felt more like sore muscles and it hurt. Anyway once I stopped the nexium and took the probiotics and enyzmes the RUQ pain went away, completely. Then in June I started getting some difficulty swallowing and went back to my GI doc. He decided to do another upper endoscopy as it had been 6 years since the last one. He found esophagitis and two small duodenal ulcers. So he put me back on the nexium and carafate. A week later my RUQ pain was back which I shared with my GI doc at a followup office visit. He told me to cut the nexium back to 2x per week that the RUQ pain could be due to the nexium. I was wondering if there are others here who experienced the same thing? Seems like its a catch 22, I dont want to get Barretts esophagus which the nexium will help prevent, but the RUQ pain is very uncomfortable. Would like to hear from you if you have experienced this with taking nexium. thanks

Acidrefluxman had this particular problem I think - you might want to see if you can revive one of the threads he started?
