Welcome to Healing Well.
The nausea is a very common symptom of GERD. There are meds to help with the nausea. Talk with your GI or PCP about the nausea and ask for an anti nausea meds such as Zophran or Phenergan, etc. I have used Phenergan for several years with very good results.
Sometimes they prescribe Reglan as it moves food out of the stomach faster, but can have some bad side effects. Have you tried having a couple crackers near your bed to eat when you wake up? Sometimes just getting something small in your stomach in the morning can help too.
