What LPR symptoms do you have now? How much improvement since the surgery? I really would like to hear more details.
LPR symptoms are considered atypical reflux symptoms. I would say that I had atypical LPR symptoms or atypical atypical reflux.
My main complaint was a constant "straining" of my voice. It felt like my vocal cords were burnt and the sensation got worse after meals. I had years and years of this laryngeal inflammation so it hasn't improved 100% yet, but is better.
I no longer trip over words as much and feel like I have more freedom with my voice. There is also more expression and I can even sing along to the radio. I don't avoid social situations as much and have been able to eat pretty much whatever I want.
I'm going to follow a lot of the other recommendations from people here in controlling and recovering from LPR and then have an appointment with my ENT. It will be interesting to see if he can tell a difference. I may or may not tell him prior to the laryngoscopy that I had the LINX.
Here's another random thing that maybe some people can relate to after the LINX.
After eating, sometimes I feel an uncontrollable burping gurgle. My friends and I joking call it a burgle. I think that it is when the LES is relaxing and would otherwise be
open, but the LINX is keeping it mostly closed.
Also, the procedure has officially been paid for by my insurance. I spent one night in the hospital and the bill came to ~$60,000. Most of that wasn't written off and was actually allowed and paid for by my insurance.
For awhile, I thought about
getting the procedure done out-of-pocket. I thought it would be more like $20,000. Twenty thousand would've been a stretch and $60,000 would have been financial suicide.
Have a good day,
