Hello, im 22 & for the past 5 months or so I've been experiencing all these weird symptoms like , shortness of breath, chest pressure, palpitations, difficulty swallowing.
I'm a natural bodybuilder and have been working out for 4 years now .
But it's pretty much just Been this year where I've felt terrible.
I've had numerous studied done; 5 EKG's, Echocardigram, Stress Test, X-ray,Bloodwork and a 24 hour holter monitor all which came back normal.
Doctor diagnosed me with anxiety..
But is this difficulty swallowing discomfort due to gerd? It feels like something is stuck behind my Adam's apple or something. Or can it just be my anxiety?
I also have a deviated septum in my nose so that also might be the cause of my shortness of breath.
Please share your stories (:
And does Zantac 150mg help with gerd?

Hi,
Have you been to see a Gastroenterologist or an ENT doctor? Shortness of breath can be due to acid reflux and or a Hiatus Hernia. A lump in the throat can be globus - this can be from acid reflux or from anxiety.

I also have swallowing difficulties and this is due to my LPR - silent reflux which was recently diagnosed by my ENT consultant.

I would suggest you see an ENT specialist for further tests.

all the best

I went to the Ent but he focused more on my deviated septum
Is it dangerous ?

Welcome to Healing Well.

No, a deviated septum isn't dangerous at all. Most people have some deviation, but some are worse than others. It can cause bloody noses in drier air. I had this and sinus issues and had surgery to fix this, but I also had sleep apnea at the time. I went for the surgery to try and make it easier to use the CPAP.
Your symptoms are classic GERD. I would get into a GI doctor and let them see what is going on. You may want to watch what you eat within a few hours of working out. Some people get worse reflux while lifting.
Try to not eat at least 3 to 4 hours before going to bed and raise the head of your bed about 6 inches. Don't just add pillows as just raising your head actually puts more pressure on your stomach, making reflux worse at night.
Are you using any body builder products from GNC or similar? If so, you may want to ask if any of these can make reflux worse as well.
We have several members who are lifters and will probably be along shortly with their ideas.

Take care,
Bill

Thanks for the advice
Extremely helpful
And I used to take whey protein and creatine but stopped since I've been feeling bad..
And that's a good tip
I usually eat before bed and workout right when I wake up.
Is zantac beneficial ?

Zantac and Pepsid are a couple OTC meds that can help reflux symptoms. I have used both in the past. I used the generic ones with good results.
