I've had ulcerative colitis for 6 years - largely under control. All my life I've had GERD and indigestion issues. Usually mild and I tend to get them in bouts. I don't regularly post on the GERD forum. But I do have 2 questions that maybe the regulars could help me with

1) Can GERD symptoms be linked to anxiety or a period of anxiety in your life
2) Sometimes late at night when I'm in bed when I breathe in I'll hear a sorta bubbling sound in either my throat or lungs - I'm never sure which one. All I know is that its in my chest area. When I breathe out I do not hear this. At first I thought it was mucus. I guess it could be in the chest or throat. It's not really an inconveniance and I only hear it when I'm very quiet. Is this a GERD symptom?

Thanks,

Welcome to our little corner of Healing Well!

Yes to both. Anxiety and stress can make any reflux worse and excess mucus is a symptom of reflux. Have you mentioned this to your GI?
You could try raising the head of your bed about 6 inches and see if this helps your symptoms also.

Take care,
Bill
