I think I got GERD and Barretts from taking Alleve and muscle relaxers after a back injury. I could hardly stand up so I was eating, taking 2 Alleve, muscle relaxer and back to bed. I did this for about 2 wks. Anyone have a similar story.  Diagnosed 5/8/13 . Been taking prilosec since then . I've been taking DGL for 1 month and would like to get off the prilosec. Anyone have a similar story ?

staff-

Welcome to Healing Well.

Barretts would take longer than 2 weeks to form, IMO. I developed it after about 14 years of severe reflux. NSaids are hard on your stomach though. Have you had an RGD to confirm the Barretts?

Take care,
Bill

Thanks Bill, I had an endoscopy to confirm the Barretts. It wasn't diagnosed until 2 months after my GERD diagnosis. I have a follow up with my GI doc on 8/23/13. He was on vacation after the endoscopy so I got the news from his nurse. I'm 62 years old and have never had heartburn or any other digestive problems in my life.
In the past 3yrs I've had a detached retina, rotator cuff surgery and hand surgery but no GI problems !!!
