Ali,

I was there three days ago so I know exactly what you are talking about. I slept maybe 3 hours the night before my procedure and was a bundle of nerves. If I had it to do over again, I would have eaten a light to moderate dinner and went to bed earlier.

Being rested the day of the procedure will help you deal with the stress. I think you are going to be fine and remember, your healing starts tomorrow and that people here at healing well are always glad to help you through the process. Please keep us updated on your recovery.

Hi Ali,
Welcome to the yeah yeah yeah Wrapped Club! yeah yeah yeah Glad you made it through just fine!  The shoulder pain is often the worst part of recovery. If you can get that BP regulated and start walking you can get it better.  I found the more I walked, the better my shoulder felt, and visa-versa.  Hang in there!

Happy healing,

How are you feeling today Ali?

I am only 5 days post op and I can tell you that I feel pretty good at times and then bad at other times throughout the day. Like Denise said, walking is great medicine for the pain in your shoulder and helps push the gas through your digestive system.

I refuse to allow my low points during recovery to weigh me down. I know that my recovery phase is temporary and that I will be better soon. My discharge instructions were very vague so this place has become my second home. I visit several times daily especially when I feel myelf starting to slip into a depressed state. Denise, Bill, and several others here have some great advice on how to get through recovery. Please let us know how you are doing.

Hello

I'm home now I slept much better lat night, the shoulder pain is getting better,I have walked a lot which makes me fill much better.the worst bit is getting in and out of bed.
I've tried a yogurt small spoon full it went down ok I'm drinking lots of water.my only pain meds are paracetamol and diclofenic .they said they try to stick with these so I don't feel sick.
That happened three times in the hospital but they gave me Anita sickness drip and that soon went.
I do feel better today than yesterday so I'm hoping everyday gets better.
I have asthma also which has been great but today I've been coughing a bit which I can do without.
I'm hoping I don't lose to much weight as I'm sure that will just make me weaker .
Well one day at time and thank you all

Day 5
Hello everyday I have felt better, Sunday night I stopped taking the diclofenic as I'm sure that's what is making me feel sick, since then I have not felt sick.
My wrap feels tighter today I can feel water going down where as I haven't before today.
I am not in pain but just sore getting up and down. My left shoulder still hurts but I am walking about a lot,I do feel better walking about.
Hope all those recovering are doing ok and I want to thank you bill as reading what you have been through has made me worry less as I no what I am experiencing is normal so thank you for that

Hey Ali,

Bill and Denise are worth their weight in cold. The biggest turning point for me so far was from day 5 to 6. My swelling went down and I was able to swallow without the delayed feeling of food or water passing through the wrap. I still take pain meds but only at night before bed.

I have a long ways to go but it gets better every day. Glad to hear that your recovery is gonig well.

Ali & Rob-

I am very happy we could be of some help. I know we both had no idea of what to really expect going into this surgery. there is so much negativity about this surgery on the net and it made so stressed out going into surgery.
We both wanted to be able to let people know what to really expect and to calm some fears about this surgery, since it seems world wide that surgeons just don't actually know what it is like to go through this.

For me at least, If I have helped anyone at all get through this it is worth every minute I have been on this forum.

Take care,
Bill

Hey Ali,

How are you doing today? You are only 2-3 days behind me in recovery so I want to keep close tabs on you. I am sure you saw in my other post that I actually burped today. It was not a deep burp but it was a welcomed relief. It gave me a bit of a scare and thankfully Denise answered my destress call in the post titled "Day 8 question".

Keep moving forward and let us know how you are doing.

It makes me feel good to know you are both handling post-op with great aplomb.
I agree 100%, Bill has helped so many by sharing his own personal experience as well as Denise.  They are the stars of the show here in the Wrapped Club and have earned their stars. Why Bill had to try this surgery out more than once he liked it so much. devil

Txman4102

Hi I'm day 6 post op today ,I slept 7 hours last night, yesterday I felt water and drink backing up.today I've had a cup of tea and it went down well.
First time today no shoulder pain, lets hope that stays.
I can still only manage quarter a cup of food but my surgeon said its not a race I just worry bout losing to much weight I've lost 6 pound already .i was thinking of getting some ensure or boost but I am eating lots of veg mash blended up with gravy ,full fat custard ,jelly ,I just discovered dairy lea cheese goes down well.
I haven't got any pain as such just sore when I lay down and first get up.
My stomach is making noises today but maybe my bowel is getting into gear that is slow.
I have suffered no reflux as yet and I'm really pleased I am asthmatic I have only taken my blue inhaler once since surgery I would normally take it at least three times a day.
I'm hoping to reduce my steroid inhaler in time.
How are you doing ?
Ali

Thank you kitt
Bill and Denise are great,I did get a diet sheet will more a small book when I left hospital but I didn't get told much else or what to expect .so to have these two who have gone through it more than once ,I come on here and it's like having our own consultants.I am so grateful to them both and to Denise as I to have asthma.
All I can say is I wish I got to see this consultant two years ago as I was under another consultant but got a second opinion best days work I ever did.

Thank you so much kitt

Ali,

I relied on Boost an Ensure during my first 5 days post op and they really helped limit my weight loss. I think I have only lost 4-5 lbs which was fine with me. Around day 7 for me I really began to noticed that the swelling started to go down a little and my appetite returned to normal.

I stopped using my pain killer last night (day 8 of recovery) and did not have any problem sleeping. In fact, I slept better without taking it. I am so glad to be off that stuff. Anyway, look forward to hearing from you again soon.
