The time has come. In less the 24 hours I will be wrapped. I've read everything I can about this surgery, followed forum members' recoveries and listened carefully to the all the advice offered. I can do no more. Thanks to all the those who have answered my questions--I'm sure that I'll have many more questions during my recovery. Where can I buy beef broth?

Ian,

I am glad that your day has finally come. The stress of waiting is finally over. I hit day 7 of my recovery today and it has been pretty much what Denise and Bill said it would be. I am eager to read your recovery journal in a day or so. Be well.

Rob and all-- Thank you. I'll be in the hospital over night, so please give me a couple of days to post. I'll give you updates and let you know how I'm doing. My wife will be off work and will be with me for two days. A friend from my church will come to my house on Friday to sit with me to make sure I'm okay. I have 3 teens in the house who have been instructed to be less like teens i.e. (no drama and allow me to heal). We'll see how that goes.

Ian-

As I said before, you ARE ready for this. We will be here for you through your recovery. Oh, beef broth you can either make yourself, what's left from a roast cooked in a little water or buy it at the store.

Good luck and I'll be waiting for your update afterward.

Take care,
Bill

Ian,

Take your time my friend. We will be here when you are ready to share your experience.

I am on day 8 of my recovery and have been eating soft foods for about 3 days now. I am glad I only had to stay on the liquid/shake diet for a week. Any longer than that and I would have lost my mind. Those things get old really fast.

I do not think I have lost any weight which is great for me. I am going to try and come off the pain meds tonight. I have only been taking Lora-tab once a day, 2 hours before bed. I have been eating canned soups, stews, yogurt, and mashed potatoes. All of these foods are very soft and can be easily swallowed. I feel fairly well but do find myself hungry and I have to watch how fast I eat to keep from over eating. Bill recommeded 6-8 small meals a day and I am close to that with 5.

Look forward to hearing from you in a few days.

Ian, This site has been a true blessing for me as I know it will for you too, especially if you follow the wisdom of both Bill and Denise. Friday will be my 3rd week celebration. I can honestly tell you that should I ever have to go through this again I won't hesitate. The pain and after surgery trama was so much easier then anticipated.
The best part is having those with experience here to help guide and reassure you. Good lick Ian, anxious to here your story in a few days. Grams

Ian,

Perhaps your surgery is over but I wanted to you to know that you'll be in my thoughts and prayers  throughout your surgery and during your recovery.

Ian,
Best wishes to you on your recovery. Where did you get your surgery done at? I live about 20 min from you.
