I don't know your history well but I am wondering if you have seen a Dr. regarding your symptoms especially  "head feels like its going to explode ears plugged and ringing dizzy sinus plugged hard to breath eyes out of focus difficulty swallowing phlegm stuck in throat" comments? Also you mentioned "Brain fog" - I would question a raging sinus infection as a possibility for these types of symptoms or seasonal allergies.

The belly problems - I think I may have posted to you or someone else recently about belly problems and HH.

Hope you get checked out and please remember HealingWell should never take the place of a medical professional therefore we cannot diagnosis.

Kindly,
Kitt

I'm asking can hiatal hernia or lpr be pushing up my throat plugging my sinuses and ears causing a severe head ache , with severe gas in belly bloating and difficulty breathing. Been dx at u of m gastro with stage 3 gerd and a medium hiatus. He won't comment on my shortness of breath or bloating and I don't think he believes in lpr. Im looking for people with similar ailments to guide me to better docs or health, if I new what was causing these ailments the bloating and breathing are my priorities my ears and sinus presure are secondary but feeling the presure like I have never before felt, in my 56 years of living. Thankyou.

Your going to run into a lot of GI doctors that don't understand the entire spectrum of reflux. I'm in the same boat with all the breathing problems and sinus issues. I feel like I want to cut my head off from the shoulders up... From my understanding it is either the vocal cords spasming or the cricothyroid muscle tightening up that's causing the shortness of breath for us, as well as lung problems that could be attributed from asthma/reflux also.

I've been to mayo Mn and I didn't find any answers as why my sinuses, breathing problems, inhalation problems, chest tightness, throat tightness, and burning pain exists in my throat. The inability to focus is quite annoying as well... but I don't think they GI doctors there look into LPR, they seemed very focused on the esophagus. If you find someone who helps you out, let me know. I'm pretty much willing to go anywhere at this time to be able to breath again.

Six do you have like a presure feeling in your head and ears? Mine helps a bit when lying down. And it seams a little easier to breath. Do you feel bloated like your injecting air? Thank you I'm schedule for the 48 hr bravo test and endo in oct. im scared of choking on the capsule and I wonder if that will tell if I got lpr ? I'm seeing gastro at uof m Michigan .

Terlin,

LPR is a condition that occurs in a person who has gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Acid made in the stomach travels up the esophagus (swallowing tube). When that stomach acid gets to the throat, it is called laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR).

There are many symptoms of LPR, all of which relate to sensations in the throat. Fifty percent of people with LPR do not have symptoms of heartburn or an upset stomach. When there are symptoms, they include:

  • Mild hoarseness
  • Sensation of a lump in the throat
  • Need to clear the throat
  • Sensation of mucous sticking in the throat and/or post-nasal drip
  • Chronic cough
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Sore throat
  • Red, swollen, or irritated voice box

LPR is caused by stomach acid that bubbles up into the throat as a result of GERD. Fortunately, most causes do not require medical care. They can be managed with lifestyle changes.

Anyone can get LPR, but it shows up more often as people age. People who have certain dietary habits, people who consistently wear tighter fitting or binding clothing, people who are overweight, and people who are overstressed are more likely to have laryngopharyngeal reflux.

I don't know if this info will help you Terlin but perhaps you may be able to relate to something I have posted for you.

I would ask that you continue posting in the original thread you started as you are continuing a conversation on the same topic.  You are more likely to get a response from people if all your posts re LPR/sinus and stomach bloat are in the same thread.

Thank you ,

Kitt

i have this... It's annoying. It hurts and nobody understands it. Try telling a doctor that your reflux is causing ear pain...

I think if you are feeling this sick perhaps you should call your on call physician or present to an ER. Do you have a fever?

Terlin-

I had cataract surgery last Nov. and Dec. so I know what you mean. It's amazing after you get the 1st done. How much color you haven't been seeing.

Do you know about using cntrl + to increasr the size of the font on the screen? It helped me a lot before I had my surgery.

Take care,
Bill

Terlin-

What did you decide for lenses? I went with 1 distant and 1 near, so I would eliminate the need for reading glasses except for very small print. It's worked out fairly well, but if I had it to do again I think I would have gone with both for distance.

Take care,
Bill

I had this pressure feeling but it went away on it's own. Get checked for hernia if you are suspecting
