confused Hello! everyone I am a brand new member. In the past few weeks I have learned so much from each and everyone of you. I am so happy to know that I am not alone! I have been taking nexium for about a year and a half for acid reflux. I have never been tested, only had 3 endoscopy's. My ex family Dr prescribed it to me. I really don"t have any side effects from it except that my hair is thinning and falling. After reading and researching "The little purple pill", I Hate It!. I want it out of my system! I want to wean off of it but I am so afraid, one day I forgot to take it and the next day I had heartburn. Before nexium I had heartburn and reflux mostly @ night or I would wake up chocking, My GI Dr just refills every time, but I have to admit I was eating all the wrong foods and also over eating. If I would have known then what little I know now! I thought I was taking an aspirin or a vitamin I didn't know what lurked behind this little purple pill. I have no idea where to begin. All I have @ home is apple cider vinegar and cinnamon gum, I also take magnesium, calcium, probiotics and vitamin D. What I've read is very hard to take in but I have a lot of hope. I don't know if I can do it alone!
In need of all your help......

There are other reflux medications. Could you try one of those? I'm sorry if I missed something. I got sick when I was 19 with gastroenteritis and my hair started falling out, so I understand.

Try Gaviscon. No prescription needed. It works well for me.

I just know I want to do something about it but well I know I need to begin with a low carb diet first and hopefully loose some weight before I can even take an alternative med. When I hear all these people have done it and how brave they all were it sounds very easy I really hope It will be for me. Wish me luck!...
