Hi everyone,

My name is Chris. I post on the anxiety forum a lot but am coming here for some advice.

I keep getting pains in the middle of my chest. It is either a dull ache that lasts for anywhere from 30 minutes to hours. Or it also just a sharp pain. I have had an EKG and stress echo dome so I know it's not my heart.

So my question to you is, is this a heartburn pain I'm feeling? Just trying to wrap my head around all the new things going on in my body right now.

Thank you in advance everyone.

I don't have a yes or no answer, but is it similar to feeling like something is being squeezed? I started getting this weird chest pain that feels like that a couple days ago. Trying my best not to panic and go to the ER because they never find anything :(

It very well could be. I would suggest seeing a GI doctor since they ruled out heart issues.

Take care,

Thank you guys for the insight. Turning 32 in January, guess I'm going to start getting all the new aches and pains associated with getting older. :)

Dear Chris, I went through that heart attack routine about three times over before my doctor and I figured out it was GERD-an easy test would be to radically simplify your diet (no fats, spices, acids) for a couple of days and see if you feel better. If you do then work with a food diary and find out exactly what is causing the symptoms.

Be patient though, I have been working on my diet for 6 months now and most of my major breakthrough insights have occurred by accident. I feel 100 percent better...with some lingering issues that I hope will continue to resolve with time.

Also beware of quick fix heartburn cures on the internet. I burned my esophagus with a ginger chew in the first month trying to do a quick natural fix for heart burn. That was a major setback. If I had just not gone "natural" and used good old Tums I wouldn't have had a problem!

Good luck!
