Dear Chris, I went through that heart attack routine about three times over before my doctor and I figured out it was GERD-an easy test would be to radically simplify your diet (no fats, spices, acids) for a couple of days and see if you feel better. If you do then work with a food diary and find out exactly what is causing the symptoms.
Be patient though, I have been working on my diet for 6 months now and most of my major breakthrough insights have occurred by accident. I feel 100 percent better...with some lingering issues that I hope will continue to resolve with time.
Also beware of quick fix heartburn cures on the internet. I burned my esophagus with a ginger chew in the first month trying to do a quick natural fix for heart burn. That was a major setback. If I had just not gone "natural" and used good old Tums I wouldn't have had a problem!
