Greetings,
Im not sure how much knowledge about my situation but I'm going insane not being able to train. I am a college football player and powerlifter I love lifting and training but since June I've had digestive distress it started with constipation and I went to the ER and the doctor confirmed i was "full of crap." I took some stool softeners and was finally able to go but not big happy and healthy like I was accustomed to and not as often. I upped my water in take and fiber. Still unable to go back to normal I also had no hunger. A few weeks later I developed a cough shortness of breath and runny nose. Both went away except the short of breath. So at this point I had no appetite, small bowel movements, and shortness of breath still pushing it in the gym and on the field. By this time i was no longer taking any supps at this time. I also lost about 17 pounds, went from 237 to 220. I went to a walk in free clinic because my family is really poor and deals with financial struggles due to single mother and five siblings. Fall football came and I went through all this our crazy workouts and still no hunger but still ate three times a day and was able to see improvements in my bowel movements and was happy now just had no appetite and shortness of breath the week school starts I go with my girlfriend and sister to eat at Cheese cake factory and boom burning in my chest and stomach ace and bloating that went away after a while. SO now I have missed the first three games of the season because of this and i now weigh about 205-210 and lost lots of muscle. Its so annoying I am seeing a specialist and natural doctor this week. I am only eating veggies, protein, and fruits. Veggies include lettuce purple cabbage organic baby spinach, kale. Protein is organic free range eggs, organic chicken and turkey and distilled water is all I drink. My current symptoms are constipation, no appetite, dark urine recently, shortness of breath, spots on the back of my hands look kinda like liver sports (but im only 21) and on my index finger purple looking spots that look funky and peeled a little, and dry skin on my bicep and tricep region. So any suggestions or advice would be really welcomed please !!! my family depends on me I cant fail. I will not let them down and I need the gym back .
GI doctor put me on disipramine whic is used to treat IBS but I really dont have symptoms of IBS so if anybody has an idea of what else my being occuring please help me !! Maybe Low HCl ???? I've lost 35 pounds !!!

IBS-C involves constipation, you could be experiencing some IBS symptoms. If you are eating raw veggies and have IBS, that could be an issue. I can't digest raw veggies and I have felt better since I stopped. Have you thought about drinking alkaline water?

I would strongly suggest you make an appointment with a GI specialist and ask for a colonoscopy.  Everything is not GERD. I am very concerned about your symptoms and feel  we would be doing you an injustice by  not encouraging you to follow up with more testing.

Please let us know how you make out.

Kindly,
Kitt

Okay I will call my GI specialist but he seemed intent on waiting two weeks. I was able to poop with the miralax this morning. What should I say ? I'm not the most aggressive guy off the field. Should I take the anti depressant pills, I really dont want to. My natural doc said to keep eating only fruits veggies and lean proteins and starting running 20 minutes a day. Today and last night i got a little more pain in my left thoracic spine region and left ribs. Should I go to school doc I've been running around like crazy to doctors.

Sounds like more than IBS. I second the advice given- go see a GI specialist for testing AND find a really good internist (preferably not on campus if your student insurance covers it, which they should) who can survey the big picture and point you toward other specialists as necessary. Also, if you're having IBS, eating more fibrous veggies isn't always the answer. I have also discovered that many of my problems- C and D cleared up when I limited insoluble fiber like kale and cabbage and quinoa etc... I feel a lot better now that I'm avoiding all of the super whole-foods-healthy types of stuff I'd been gorging on for the last few years, and that contradicts all the advice my doctors ever gave me. Good luck finding answers!

The dark urine is a sign that should give a GI doc a clue.  My advice is to not take the antidepressant.  Hang in there man.

Thank all for support ! There isd something very strange happening in me as I ate a chicken sandwich out of desperation and frustration and my shortness of breath improved a little but still constipated no hunger mega weight loss Ive gone from 240 pound college d lineman to 201 the other day I'm worried but confident I will find answers. I appreciate continued feed back. I'm going to GI doc again but will be VERY costly. ANy opinions on which I shpuld try first ?? I'm a poor college student so I need to pick and spend well.

If possible you should have a full blood panel done. A cross fit friend of mine got really sick from drinking only distilled water for a year. He had shortness of breath, palpitations, and extreme fatigue. His doctor did blood work and found that his electrolytes were severely imbalanced. The distillation process removes essential nutrients and minerals that are needed for the bodies function. He went back to drinking water and his symptoms improved drastically.

Just thought I would share that information with you.
