Labor Day weekend on Saturday night I got on the mood for some sweets . Got me a glass of milk and oreos (I eat healthy all week and then cheat from saturday midnight till sunday midnight). Just as I was about to be done I suddenly started to feel like there is a brick in my stomach plus couldn't burp . I panicked ran upstairs and try to vomit but nothing but acid came up. Took one tum and went to bed. In the morning i thought i was better so I had some chocoate and then the acid came up to my nose plus difficulties breathing and a stabbing stomach pain. Went to couple of doctors that I didn't like. Finally found a good one he asked for the symptoms and ran a standard blood test (haven't had one in years) .I have anemia plus he suspects gastritis so he put me on 40MG nexium plus reglan plus carafate plus vitamin b12 shots plus liver and iron supplement its a lot of meds for a person who never even takes advil. I was just wondering can someone describe their symptoms mine are heartburn, indigestion, stomach pain going through my back, feel ing of fullness, trouble burping. How long does it take to be over with . Im just really scared , tired and hungry. I don't want it to be something more serious the doctor also have ordered a candida antibody blood test still waiting for that. By the way I'm 35 female eating healthy (really skinny right now :( )but a smoker and I like to have my drink at the party (no drinking since this thing has started smoking about 3 ciggarettes a day now versus half pack or more before ). Any stories comments ideas I need to cheerup this whole thing made me a very sad person nobody could recognize anymore :(

Hi Anna!

Your symptoms seem typical of gastritis. It is commonly a burning / gnawing pain in the center of your belly, and it can go through into your back. Also, having gastritis can cause you to not be able to absorb certain vitamins - which is why your MD gave you the B12.

Try to stay away from the ciggy's and booze - Eat a clean diet: No processed food - keep it a bit bland. Avoid anything spicy/carbonated or with chocolate in it.

Keep up with your medication regime and throw in some simple exercise like walking if you can. I have mild gastritis too, and diet and exercise are a HUGE help.

Hang in there, you WILL GET BETTER! :)
