I am a very anxiety driven person. Get very anxious over very minor issues. Take Xanax when needed for anxiety and panic attacks. I had an Endoscopy test scheduled today due to GERD. I was EXTREMELY anxious/nervous about it but I can tell you that it is easy to accomplish......SO glad I did it! Even though my Mother has had it done three times and told me there was nothing to it I still couldn't relax, I wouldn't accept it......BUT it was true, the procedure only takes about 10 minutes and you're only on anesthesia for about 1/2 hr. I had mine done 7:00 AM, home by 8:30, and running errands about 1:30 that afternoon. I was a little bloated with gas, but who cares, didn't even have a sore throat. If you are dealing with reflux issues and have concerns, definitely have the scope done, I PROMISE YOU, the thoughts in your head, IF you're worried, are false.....it's painless! You'll be done and on your way before you know it. If I can handle it, TRUST ME, you can! I get anxiety about EVERYTHING! Good luck!

Hi Dimar,
Glad to hear it! Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.  I'm sure it will help somebody else who's worrying about the endoscopy procedure!
Take care,

I was like you, terrified of the testing and the surgery. But it was not nearly as bad as my mind was thinking it would be.

I'd go through it all again if I ever need to do it again. I might dread the manometry but I'd do it.

I had 2 in one day and they were both a breeze for me.  The first one I vaguely remembered but the Dr. was unable to complete it because I bit her........shame on me - should have kept her hands out of my mouth.  smhair She accused me of having a mouth that was to little which made it my fault she could not perform the scope. That was a first as most people would say I have a big mouth.

I was transferred up-town to a more experienced Dr. who looked into my mouth and smiled as he said we won't have a problem at all.  And we did not.  I agree with you the fear of the unknown is the worse part of any test.

Thank you for sharing you positive experience.

Kindly,
Kitt
