I am now at a very annoying 3 or 3/12 as opposed to an off the scale level of pain on a 1-10 scale.

I also talked to the pharmacist. He said that it isn't really necessary to wait two hours after eating for you to have an empty stomach. So I am trying taking medicine after an hour instead.  So far it seems fine.

I wouldn't recommend it if you eat something heavy or a lot at once though. I think that might take the full 2 hours.

Uhura,
That is very good to hear.  So the Carafate is helping?  The pharmacist is the one to ask, for sure.
Hang in there!

How are you doing?
The Carafate is helping. Or maybe it is the Carafate/Aciphex combination. There don't seem to be many people here taking Aciphex.

But again, how are you doing? Hope your pain level is lowering.

Thanks. I am feeling a lot better. The scary thing now is that I feel heartburn still in my left hip and then the same feeling on top of my right foot, above the right ankle (most of calf), and occasionally in my knees. Never just the left knee but sometimes both.

Not sure that is even related to heartburn but is a scary feeling to have.

Hope everyone here has a pain level that is lowering.

Hi Uhura,
I'm sorry to hear that you're in pain today.  I must say, though, that I don't think the symptoms you're describing could be heartburn.  Have you seen a doctor about the pain you're feeling?  If not, I think it's time to get yourself to someone who can make a correct diagnosis.

You shouldn't have to deal with the pain level that you're describing.
Hope you get feeling more comfortable very soon!
Hang in there,
Denise

I have an appointment next week. It does sound strange but some of the symptoms do match heartburn so I do think that is part of it. But would carafate/Aciphex work if it weren't?

Hi Uhura,

I'm not saying you don't have reflux issues.  Obviously if you're getting relief from those meds, it is an indication that you have reflux.  But In all my research and work here at the forum, I've never heard of pains that far from the stomach.  Chest pain, back pain, throat pain, shoulder pain...yes. But foot, ankle, and knee problems are something I've never heard connected to GERD.

Please let us know what you find out at your doctor appointment. I hope you can get to the bottom of your problem!

And stranger yet my left leg and left arm never hurt. And my right thigh is always fine. It might hurt a little below the knee or above the ankle but never the upper leg. Seems strange that it is skipping part of my leg.
