Hello, i made an account just to have someones outlook because this is the mystery of my life. I'm a 23 year old male and I have a very strict healthy/active lifestyle. I used to eat 3 big meals a day because i was following an intermittent fasting lifestyle.

about 7 months ago i started having all these Symptoms including:
-Difficulty breathing (only on left side)
-Chest tightness (again only on left side)
-Post nasal drip (sometimes it's really bad)
-Constant throat clearing and purposely coughing. I never really "have" to cough, just do it to clear throat.
-Another thing to add about throat clearing. i have to tilt my head to the right or left to actually get some progress on clearing my throat. And most the time i also have to do constant rough exhales to clear whatever it is. It's weird.
-Only time i get a tingly feeling to cough is when i tilt my head upwards.
-dry mouth, especially in the morning. I don't know if it's from LPR or from the fact i can't even drink much water because it makes it worse! -.-

I went to the doctors and was diagnosed with allergies. I got nasal spray, antibiotics, ventolin and a steroid inhaler. The only thing that gave me some relief was my ventolin inhaler, but no where near better.

I went back to the doctor and got my heart checked and it turned out fine. also got a chest X-ray it came back normal. I was prescribed Omeprazole and doesn't seem to be helping.

I went to 6 small meals a day, tried low carb diets, restricted calories by half, took dairy out, redhot sauce out, pretty much isolated all foods one by one to see what the cause is and nothing. Natural remedies like Apple cider vinegar, aloe vero juice didn't help either.

Here i am today and still not better. I don't know if it is LPR or gerd. I have no heartburn, bitter taste, no abnormal burping that i'm aware of, no burning in mouth sensation, either. Sometimes i feel better for a few days and then i am feeling it all over again. It's like this sickness is teasing me. I feel good right when i wake up in the morning then about 5 minutes into being awake i have the left side tight chest feeling.

This is ruining my life. i cant go out, work is awkward with my throat clearing, i cant even run that much anymore or lift weights properly without constant coughing. It's so bad i even have suicide thoughts. Not that id really commit suicide but that's how desperate i am to being better.

Hi, I hope I can help you as I went through a similar experience a few months ago and know how frustrating it can be. What you might have is LPR complicated by allergies. When this happens, your throat and esophagus become a war zone. You must step in aggressively to settle them down; this means using both short-course medication and lifestyle changes. I have found GERD and allergies be chronic conditions, but LPR does not have to be. This is the two-week plan I suggest, which worked for me:
1. A 14-day course of OTC Prevacid, taken 1 hour before dinner
2. Do not eat or drink anything at dinner that aggravates GERD
3. Do not eat or drink anything after dinner, except water
4. Raise the head of your bed by 4-6 inches
5. An hour before bedtime, use a steroid nasal spray, e.g. fluticasone

Follow these steps religiously for fourteen days and, barring any hidden health issues, you should feel an improvement. Good luck to you.

I feel stupid now. I recently began drinking water and stared to feel better. I came to the conclusion i was only dehydrated the whole time. So i bought Gatorade, pedialyte and drank water all day and the symptoms are almost gone. Makes sense with all the working out, eating, supplements. Knock on wood though.

Still sounds like classic GERD/LPR. I didn't have any heartburn either. You may have symptoms go away and them come back again. Drinking water helps to neutralize your stomach acid and give you some relief. It's always possible small amounts of acid are refluxing from your stomach. The fact that you're constantly trying to stay healthy, I'd think would help in the severity of your symptoms. I'm pretty active myself, I wish diet and exercise was enough alone to deal with all the symptoms I used to have.

That may be, but this explains my dizziness spells (stood still at work and almost fell on the floor), i had canker sores on my tongue, extreme dry mouth in morning, heat made it extremely worse. All these symptoms came up ever since i started bulking and since i was never hungry i never drank to get full.

Welcome to Healing Well.

Dehydration is horrid on the body. Do stay hydrated and hopefully it's all you need. Stick with the small frequent meals as well. That is a much healthier way to eat and keeps your body fueled all day.
I bet the dizziness had to do with low electrolytes and dehydration. It has gotten me a few times.

Take care,
