...I actually can't remember if I've already asked this, but I'd better post this just in case..! ^^;

Is it normal to belch after eating or drinking most things, or first thing in the morning on an empty stomach? The reason I ask is because since stopping my PPIs/H2 Blockers, my long-term burning throat symptom has almost completely stopped, but I belch as soon as I eat or drink anything, including filtered alkaline water or when following diets like Dr. Kouffman's reflux diet. The belching subsides after not eating or drinking for a few hours, and is better when I lie down or stop eating/drinking for a few hours. I should also note that I do my best to swallow belches back down in fear of the mucus that appears in my throat when I belch.

I'm not sure if my belching is now normal, or if just maybe I'm fretting over a normal process?

I would say not typically is it normal, I have the same issue and I think its due somehow to the PPI's. Before I started having these reflux issues I had absolutely no belching and then one day out of the blue I did. When I came off of them I noticed this started happening as well. Its my understanding that this could be caused by too low stomach acid/digestive enzymes. Try an experiment:

Purchase "HCL with Pepsin" supplements. Before each meal start with one tablet to test. Try to chew your food thoroughly and slowly. See if you notice a reduction in belching (I know I did). Also, if you feel a burning then you have too much stomach acid. In this case, do not continue using these.

Just wondering how your belching issue is going? I too have frequent belching these last few months. I can't eat or drink anything without belching (and it also happens on an empty stomach). It's driving me crazy because I don't know the cause. No heartburn or reflux...did a trial of Prilosec and that didn't help, so I don't think it's an acid issue. Had an endoscopy and ultrasound that are normal....very confused.

Let me know how yours is going and if you've figured anything out or have any ideas.
