Sorry to hear your husband is suffering. Your question is a tough one. Some people can tolerate things that others find difficult. I have a reactive stomach, and can get gastritis fairly easily. I am sensitive to most antibiotics, and don't even THINK about taking NSAIDS. I even stay away from Tylenol unless I have a fever, and even then I take it in suppository form.
I've often wondered if they have NSAIDS in suppository form as well...if you could get ibuprofen via suppository it would solve the problem. If you find out it's available, or his doc provides you with some guidance about what anti-inflammatory is better on the stomach let me know.
I finally fired a GI doc who was rude to me when I asked if there was a certain antibiotic choice that was easier on the stomach. Those answers aren't easy to come by. Please let us know what you find out!
