Hi,

Can anyone give me any idea?  My doctor wants me to continue with Dexilant. I've been with PPI for a month and a half now and been with Dexilant 60 for almost 30 days since I started with another brand.

I want to stop with the PPI - the side effects are not good for me! I've been very careful with my diet already and has been losing weight.  I just took my Dexilant a few minutes ago, its almost 4PM here in the Philippines and i usually take this at 7 in the morning.  I was really contemplating on not taking it. I know my doctor would not want me to, she at first said I could be into it for 3 months! wow!  My scope revealed esophagitis and hyperemic gastritis but she said its nothing to worry.  My H Pylori also came out negative.  Ultrasound was okay and other lab tests including thyroid panel.  Why oh why would GERD gives anxiety? I thought its because I easily gets anxious but a colleagues at work who is still 31 and male also expressed that it gives him anxiety.  I thought only us women tend to "overthink".

By the way, i am using a wedge pillow.

Please give me tips.

Thanks.

Welcome Pie.

I've never taken Dexilant, but someone else will come along with advice on that. Does the it work for your gastritis?

You might try another PPI. They are all different. I only got relief from Nexium and Acifex. They never gave me anxiety. 3 months is nothing. I took Nexium for many years, until I finally needed surgery. You must take a PPI properly. For mine, I had to take it 1/2 hour before eating, and then I had to eat something or it didn't work.

What's causing the gastritis? Do you have reflux going on?

Hi Alcie,

Yeah, I have reflux going on. I am being treated for esophagitis and gastritis. There are days when I am okay and there are days when I am not.

Like today, I have this something being stuck in the throat feeling again. I dont know what triggered this. I am watchful of my diet. Is chicken safe to eat if you have acid reflux? i had grilled chicken last night and rice and some veggie stew.

It could be that i took my Dexilant in the afternoon yesterday? I was really contemplating on stopping taking it.

I would ask her tomorrow to change Dexilant. I have a big event coming and I am the over-all Chair.. its our company's annual christmas party and we are talking of about 2,500 headcount who will show up. Argh!!!

My throat is aching while I am typing this. A lot of my colleagues are sick with upper respiratory infection by the way. I have perennial allergic rhinitis also and sinusitis and asthma.

Thanks for welcoming me :)
