Is this GERD? Scared out of my mind...

I've been having:
stomach pains,
chest tightness,
difficulty breathing,
heart palpitations,
excessive burping,
throat clearing/phlegm in throat,
loss of appetite and
some heartburn
NONSTOP for the past 3 days. It is causing me a high amount of stress and anxiety.

Could all of this be due solely to GERD? What's going on?

I could very well be, but I would suggest seeing your doctor to be sure it isn't something else also.

So it is indeed possible for GERD to cause nausea or chest tightness/trouble breathing? What about loss of appetite/getting full quicker than normal?

Yes it could be gerd. You need to see a doctor and he can diagnose. You'll probably need to take ppi's.

Have you ever had heartburn before or as this happened all of a sudden?

There are test to diagnose this condition.

I used to get chest tightness with my acid reflux. I don't know if it was the acid reflux or the hernia that was eventually found that caused this. I believe that a hernia can cause all of these symptoms but you need tests to find out for sure.

I had a barium swallow done back in 2004. I was dealing with heavy anxiety back at that time (I still am) and was too afraid to swallow large amounts of the barium. Even with limited sips, however, they noted a hiatal hernia and evidence of reflux.

Recently, (a couple months back) I tried taking Prevacid but was unhappy with the results so I stopped. Sure, it helped neutralize acid but I still felt sick and was still burping constantly. I've read terrible things about PPI's and when I quit taking it after only about a month or so of using it, I had horrendous rebound effects (the worst heartburn episodes I've ever had in my life).
