I'm really desperate for some input...so please, if anyone has anything, please share! I've posted before but haven't really figured anything out and I'm at a loss :(
3 months ago out of nowhere, one day I started belching for no reason. It hasn't stopped since and happens everyday. At it's worst it was an average of 100 times a day (not exaggerating). It has decreased over time, and now would be about 20-30 times a day. It happens on an empty stomach (and as soon as I get out of bed in the morning). But...it's significantly worse when eating or drinking ANYTHING. This is so abnormal for me, as I NEVER used to belch while eating or drinking. Now, I take one sip of anything (even water) and a few minutes later I have to burp. Same with eating. It's as though my stomach can't handle the air/food/drink? I'm doing nothing differently (not swallowing extra air, not eating fast, no weird diet).
However, I sense no acid, no heartburn, and am not burping food (seems to just be air).
I've had a normal endoscopy (and biopsies) and ultrasound. Nothing has ever been mentioned by my doctor about gerd or reflux. My doctor keeps saying "stress" or "swallowing air" but I just know that's not the cause. It's just not right. It almost seems (to me) that something isn't functioning properly because suddenly my body has to expel all this air.
My doctor has scheduled me for a barium swallow (with sbft) and then possibly a stomach emptying test, so maybe he's considering delayed stomach emptying. I don't know. I'm hoping the barium swallow can spot something that might give me an answer. What I'm more afraid of is NOT getting some type of explanation and having to just wonder what is going on, because I keep thinking I have a terrible disease or something (but then I hope that the endoscopy and ultrasound would have spotted something).
Has anybody had an issue like this? If so, what was the cause? I just feel at a complete loss and don't know what to think. Please share your experiences!! I also need some reassurance that I'm ok and that nothing sinister could be causing this...
Looking forward to any insight!!!
