Hi all, I just had the tif and a hiatal hernia repair done on 12/16, I was able to come home the next day. I was wondering if anyone can tell me about the recovery time and some questions I have. Since the surgery I can not burp at all and I am having throat spasms that last only a few seconds. Is this normal? It kind of makes me worry. Other than those couple things and being sore all is well, the diet is no fun, but if this will help with no more gerd I'll do anything!

Hope you are doing better. I had a hiatal hernia repair done laproscopic and a TIF procedure 2 years ago. I am doing great. I followed the diet restrictions carefully, although I got thrush in my mouth after 2 weeks of Ensure shakes and puddings which was quickly cured with medication. During the first year I had a couple of episodes of intense pain after eating a meal, only thing I can determine was that I may have overate gas producing foods. This pain went away in about 30 minutes with GasX or Pepcid Complete. Other than that, I am doing great, lost about 20 pounds which I have kept off and do not have to take any stomach medication regularly. I have indigestion occasionally, about once every 2 or 3 months if I eat too many high acid foods for several days in a row and an OTC antacid works fine. I am very happy with my results. I am 67 and glad I had the procedure.
