Hi,

I had a nissen Fundoplication two of years ago and have been regularly suffering from bloating and flatulence. For the past two months i have been experiencing soreness in the left side of my throat . On my initial visit to doctor he had suggested allergy as a cause and put me on medication for a month, but seeing no improvement and presented with my history with GERD came to the conclusion that i may be having silent reflux and has put me on PPIs for the past two weeks. I find 50 percent relief already but still the hoarseness exists and i am worried about the failure of my earlier operation. Also at the beginning i used to feel slight heaviness on my chest. I dont have healthy eating and sleeping habits(I dont eat on regular time and same with sleep too).

Will this silent reflux subside completely and could the earlier surgery fail?

Thanks

Welcome aboard and to the Wrapped Club!

Have you had any new tests done lately? It is possible something has happened to your wrap, but a barium swallow and maybe a manometry would show what's going on.

Take care,
Bill

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the reply
No, i have not done any tests recently and also i do not have any problem related heartburn as such.
Would physical activity (swimming or running) aggravate the condition.

Thanks,
Shiva

Shiva-

To ease your mind I would ask for a barium swallow to be safe. It will show if the is any reflux or hang ups at the wrap. Anything sitting at the wrap can be just as bad as reflux itself.

Take care,
Bill
