Hi, Edward, try not to worry. If your doctor did full bloods that came back normal then it's pretty safe to say that you're ok. They test for things like cancer with blood tests. Your anxiety is probably making the reflux worse, then your bad reflux makes you more anxious. I know this vicious cycle and its really hard to break.

Does the medication help? Maybe it needs revising if things are getting worse now. Have a talk with your doctor, he/she may be able to try you on something different, another PPI maybe.

I know how worried we can get over this illness, its hard not to, my heart goes out to you. Hang in there.

Definitely talk to your doctor if the meds aren't working. A lot of times a medicine will work for a while but as your body adjusts to it - it can become ineffective.

Also, there are tests they can do to see if it is more than just occasional reflux. Ask your doctor about your options and what direction your treatment should go in. If he doesn't give you an answer that eases your mind, find a doctor that will work with you. I got lucky and had an amazing doctor (by accident... just happened to be the one I saw in ER and turned out to be filling in there and was actually one of the top Nissan surgeons in the area).

We started with an endoscopy and biopsies. This test found that there was definite scarring from years of significant reflux and no cancerous or pre-cancerous cells. I have anxiety that I quit taking meds for and deal with mostly by adjusting breathing and thoughts but this test was the biggest help in easing all of my worries. I was in the same boat with thinking "Whatever this is, its going to kill me." Turns out it was a pretty common problem that can be managed and treated.

You need to have an honest conversation with your doctor about your symptoms and your fears associated with it. He should be able to point you in the right direction from there.

I know from experience that anxiety makes everything worse. I always feel that whatever I have is fatal. Luckily I've been wrong so far. I suspect we would have other symptoms if it was cancer like pain and blood. Belching can be caused by swallowing too much air which we can do when we are anxious. I also try to tell myself that I would never see the symptoms lessening if it was cancer. Being anxious makes us hypersensitive to everything our body is doing. Getting our anxiety under control is our first step in feeling better.

He wants me to take prevacid 30 everyday for 2 weeks and zantac 300 mg at night for 2 weeks too he said if I would've of gone to the er they would of just given me medication.
