Hi There, I started a sore throat on one side 3 months ago.. It was not like a normal sore throat, it was more like a very red inflammation.. I went to the Doctor after a few weeks as it was not improving.. She said it was nothing and it would go by eventually.. I then went to see 3 different ENT specialists.. all said it was nothing and that many people had sore throats like this all of the time and maybe I was straining my voice too much.. Over the next few weeks my throat became much more inflamed all over.. I then started pains in my chest and one night I realised that I was having difficulty to breath and swallow food that was lumpy, as I could feel it in my back.. It seemed like the strangest symptoms and I could not understand what was happening. Over he next few weeks I ended up seeing a Cardiologist and a Respiratory specialist for severe chest pain.. I had a chest x ray, heart scan etc.. but nothing was found.. It took time to realise the food connection and eventually I saw a Gastro Doc.. I had an Endoscopy which showed inflammtion in the stomach and a little bit in the first part of the Esophagus low down.. I had never suffered with heartburn but I had taken Anti-Inflammatory drugs for an injury.. He also said I may have silent reflux and did not realise.. He prescribed Omeprezole 20mg..before dinner.. These tablets made me feel very ill..I started taking them every night before dinner and from then on things went from bad to worse.. The Doc said to carry on and give them time.. but after a few days I felt just terrible, I had nausea, stomach cramps, burping, belching and could not eat anything at all! I could not digest anything, food would not process through my system.. and eventually I was showing severe indigestion which then turned into what appeared to be severe IBS.. The Doc then said he was worried about
my Pancreas and sent me for an ultrasound scan and then an MRI..these were clear.. He then tried me with Zantec once again these made things worse, not as bad as Omprezole but similar.. It took weeks for the nausea to wear off and when I stopped taking the PPI's suddenly I really did have the worst reflux.. I then knew what heartburn really felt like! It must have been a re-bound effect.. Since then I have been trying all sorts of natural remedies DGL, Slippery Elm.. many things to no avail.. meanwhile I now suffer everyday with Indigestion which is similar to severe IBS.. I hardly eat much now only very soft bland foods.. My chest pain is almost gone just the slight twinge here and there but my sore throat is still very bad also.. I am now waiting to have a Colonoscopy to see what is happening in my abdomen.. It is so strange as I did not have any problems before the first night this all started and it just seems to have evolved over the past few months.. Has anybody had a similar problem to this.. I am just so desperate to find out was is going on.. I am losing weight with each day that passes and cannot go anywhere very easily with these symptoms.. Any advice appreciated..
