Hi everyone!

I'm a 38 y/o female and I just had surgery on Wednesday 1/8/14, at NYU with one of the gurus for this specialty, Dr. George Fielding.

Im lucky to be at home with family under the watchful eye of my mom who is retired ER/ICU/Surgical nurse. She is on me like white on rice!

So far..gas pain. I stopped all narcotics after 3 days.

Should pain...air from laparoscopic and vagus nerve irritation.

Sore and I walk.slowly

Im taking a liquid vitamin and liquid omega-3 daily.

Sticking diligently to the Nissen diet though NYU'S is a little ti lax for me so I followed UPMC's.

Lost weight already....

I appreciate reading pre operatively everyone's experiences.

I hope to get some more info on my thread.

Thank you!!!!

I was diagnosed with Hiatal hernia & esophagitis in 2011, hence Gerd has been a part of my life for the last 3+ years. I have learned (sometimes the bad way) what is good and bad as far as my diet goes. For the last 2 months, the "good" foods have been affecting me, and I am suffering from heartburn EVERYDAY. Difficulty swallowing, horrible chest pain (under rib cage left side) acid reflux so bitter, I even wake up with the awful heartburn. I take over the counter "heartburn" medicine, as the last bout of DEXILANT didn't do anything for me. Saw gastroentorologist today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy tomorrow. Doctor has suggested Nissen Fundoplication, if it is related to hiatal hernia. I am 38 y/o 95 lb. female I notice I lost a few (4) pounds in the last month and it is what triggered my doctor's visit.
