Hi there,
I'm 8 weeks post and I'm still on the omeprazole. I can eat pretty much anything as long as I can chew it to liquid or mush that breaks apart (so no fatty steaks that want to stay in one piece).
My bad side effects are:
1) When I eat I seem to go from hungry to bursting full within one mouthful. Seriously, I eat a small meal, fancy more then BANG I'm suddenly stuffed like I've just eaten my Christmas dinner.
2) I get reflux and regurgitation. Not all the time but it's *definitely* linked to movement. So if I eat then pick something up. Or if I go swimming and do just a few lengths then the rest of the day is ruined.
3) I'm getting a lot of lower abs pain and when I do the reflux happens. I don't know why my lower abs are so sensitive but they are. This is linked to movement and using my abs too. The slightest use of abs brings on pain.
Do other people have these symptoms please? Or more importantly, has anyone had them after 8 weeks and gone on to a complete recovery?
Thanks for any help,

To address your concerns:

1) This is the most common symptom of the surgery post-op. The reason is your stomach has shrunk by over 30% due to the nature of the surgery. Overtime, your stomach will expand because it is elastic. This symptom subsided with me in about a couple months.

2) I would address this with your doc. You're still early in the recovery phase, but you're reflux/regurgitation at this point should be a lot less than what you originally had.

3) The ab pain, does it feel like you're gassy and bloated? Or is it more physical pain?

Hi, re 3 the pain is physical. Either a "point" pain just below the surface of the abs (away from the scars) or deep in my "lower" stomach (which is probably something completely different to my stomach :))
I'm finally getting to see my doc next week! We don't get nice service and 2 week checks in this country.
All the best,
