Long story short I was starting to get heart palps over the summer and my Doc said it was GERD. I dont usually get heartburn but I've always been very gassy, very rarely had a normal stool, throw up in mouth, drink a lot of coke, eat spicy food, etc... She prescribed me Omeprazole but I dont like taking meds so I just drank less coke and ate less spicy food. Was good for a couple months until another round of heart palps one afternoon. So I started the Omeprazole for a week. Decided to got with more home remedies. Bought DGL Licorice. Started eating honey before I went to bed. Quit taking the Omeprazole after a week and was feeling good w/ the home remedies. I then decided to change my diet up. Cut way back on grains and processed foods. No rice which I used to eat all the time. The first week was tough as I started to get bad heartburn which was unusual but I stuck with it. Started feeling better. No heart palp attacks since Sept. More often than not Im having normal stools which is a big change. But I've noticed I'm getting other symptoms now. I do experience heartburn more than I did before. I've also started noticing that lump in throat feeling way more often. And now eating honey isnt as soothing as before. It actually will cause a pain in my throat and esophagus as though something is stuck there. I've bought some aloe juice hoping that will replace the honey as a soothing agent. Its weird. I find myself hungry more often. And I wonder if there is less food for acid to burn so its moving up my esophagus. I've been keeping a food diary but so far havent been able to pinpoint what will trigger the heartburn or feeling in throat.
I'm hoping just dietary changes will be enough. And if Im less gassy, then my LES will stay closed like its supposed to be. But not sure if thats my issue. Just dont have answers. Frustrating.
