I'm a mom of a 12 yr old recently dx with Barrett's. I'm trying to learn more and help my son the best I can. I was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on alkaline water and the diet? Also I would welcome any advice on questions for the dr as well as how to prevent progression. This is just very scary for me since he is so young. It seems I get more information from here then his dr. All the dr is doing is nexium 2 a day nothing else. I'm not even sure of my options . Thank you for the help.

The objective of the alkaline diet is to keep you urine alkaline, not your stomach. There are a few people who have posted here who have found it helpful. I'm guessing it worked for them because they were eating healthier food.
I believe that the Fast Tract diet is the best available for GERD. The book is available from Amazon. The author Norm Robillard is a microbiologist. He founded the Digestive Health Institute and offers dietary counseling.

I bumped up a thread for you, hope it helps.
Remember, everyone is different but you won't know until you try, it takes time.
