I found a REALLY good site on Fundoplication surgery that might help answer some questions that you have, like I have had. It also has other helpful topics like:

Acid Reflux Remedies
The Acid Reflux Diet
Popular and Efficient Acid Reflux Home Remedies
Acid Reflux Foods to Avoid
Acid Reflux Treatment

My surgery consult is tomorrow FINALLY. Wish me luck on a speedy surgery date!

Hi Jill,
I guess by now you have had your surgery. Hope all went well.
Keep reading. This is by far the best site for information on a NF.

No surgery yet. He wants to do a barium swallow first bc the manometry study showed that the bottom of my esophagus was not workin at all. The numbers for the top and middle of my esophagus were both well above 30. The number for the bottom of my esophagus was a 2. He said he's never seen the bottom number be that low before which is why he wants the barium swallow done. If the number is wrong from the manometry and the barium swallow shows I have a working esophagus than he is gonna do a full wrap but loose. If the barium swallow confirms my esophagus isn't working he said the surgery will be extremely dangerous. So I have to wait and see what the barium swallow results are. I go back Monday to see what the barium swallow says. If everything looks good ill have surgery April 3rd.

That's terrible that he is making you wait the whole weekend. That would be nerve racking. I hope everything works out for you. I'll pray for peace for you while this is all worked out.

I had to go through all of that waiting and testing myself. It is frustrating and stressful. I am now finally scheduled for my NF on this Tuesday. Hang in there, it will happen!!

Hi Jill,

Good luck with your Monday appointment. Actually, that's pretty fast results. I've had to wait a month or more to follow up on testing results.

I looked over the website you recommended. I would say one thing--it says that everyone will have an NG tube to drain fluids from the stomach for a day or two. Many people do not have one. In fact, since I've been on this forum the past five years, I'd say the majority don't need the drainage, and those who do, usually get it out within a few hours. Of course if there is a complication, then it's more likely. It's not something you need to worry about, as it's uncommon these days.

Best wishes!
