Hi all, I am a new member who joined after following a long post on a burned esophagus on this site which is what I believe I have suffered. about 10 days ago I was sitting down to eat a dinners of mussels served on angel hair pasta, a meal I've eaten many times. When taking the first bite I noticed it went down wrong and something felt stuck in my throat, it was not affecting my breathing. The portion that caused the incident did seem very hot. I was able to eat more of the meal with some difficulty, but could not finish. Since then I have been experiencing heartburn symptoms with pain radiating to my neck and shoulders and swallowing anything other than yogurt or mashed potatoes is uncomfortable to painful. I went to the local emergency room the morning after the incident because I thought something was stuck in my throat. They X-rayed and found nothing. I saw my doctor who prescribed Gaviscon liquid prior to meals. I just returned from another visit after not much improvement and was prescribed Carafate which apparently has helped many. I have scheduled an appointment for an endoscopy in 2 weeks. At present I can swallow some solid food, but it has to be chewed really well, so I am living on soups and yogurt and bananas. Any advice from others who have lived through this will be appreciated.

No, just normal occasional heartburn.
