Hi everyone, I'm new to the board and I am scheduled for my Nissen on April 9th.  Just wondering if anyone has had their Nissen done via laparoscopy using robotics?

Hi SharonZ!

Welcome to the forum. Although the robotic procedure was available to me, I chose not to have it. I actually work for the company that designs and manufactures the DaVinci surgical robot and I have a high degree of confidence in and respect for, the product. The reason I did not go with the robotic Nissen procedure was because I didn't feel my surgeon had sufficient experience using the DaVinci for the Nissen Fundoplication. Don't get me wrong, he's a competent surgeon, he just hasn't had the 200-300 DaVinci Nissen procedures under his belt that I would have liked him to have had using the robot. I had a very good outcome with the standard laparoscopic procedure and am happy with the results.

I'm confident that if you have a surgeon that has significant experience performing a DaVinci Nissen Fundoplication that you won't have any problems.

Be well and take care!

Thanks Tony for the quick reply, it makes me feel quite a bit better. I hadn't heard much about people having the procedure done with the DaVinci.

Hi Carria5:

It's great to know that other people have had their NFs done with the DaVinci. May I ask how long you were off from work?

I was off work for a week and a half and then I started to work some from home.
