First off all, thanks to everyone on this forum. In the first weeks after my nissen surgery, you guys kept me sane by sharing your experiences it made me feel like I wasn't alone in this and that what I was experiencing was normal. Thank you so much for being here. It made a huge difference for me.
Now, I'm currently in my ninth week post nissen and since this weekend I have gotten a very bad cold. My wife and son had it first and I probably got it from them. At first I mostly got painful sinuses, but after two days I got a very sore and raw throat, the typical symptoms of a cold. Also, I've been pretty exhausted since my wife and son got the cold as their coughing kept me up at night. Not that I mind very much, but it's made me very tired due to lack of sleep.
Since the beginning of the cold I've been a feeling mild acid burning and last night I got a very bad attack that of heartburn. It was one of the worst attacks I had every had.
Is it at all possible that the combination of a cold and sleep deprivation can bring back the GERD symptoms? In the past, before my nissen surgery, I had also noticed a correlation between getting a cold and gerd symptoms. I know that GERD can make a cold much worse, but can a cold bring on GERD symptoms?
